This site is the official website for the Social Services Industry Training Organisation (ITO). We are an ITO established by the Industry Training Act 1992. 

The ITO owns and maintains this website. 

On this website you will find information on what we do and how we do it.

This website provides information for:

• the general public on our ITO
• people who may want to gain a social services qualification while they continue to work in the sector
• our assessors so that they can more effectively carry out their job
• social services agencies on how to get training for their staff
• tertiary education organisations on how to be accredited to offer our unit standards
• our members
• the social services sector.

Accessibility

We have endeavoured to make this site as accessible as possible and have designed it to New Zealand Government Web Guidelines and W3C WAI A. Our accessibility page has further information about other ways to access our site.

Information formats

We provide as much website content as possible in HTML (Hypertext Markup Language). However, some documents are published in Microsoft Office formats (Word or Excel). 

We also publish our longer documents in PDF (Portable Document Format) where this version may be more suitable. Where ever possible, we will provide a summary for screen readers.

Māori language

We use macrons for Te Reo Māori in all our published documents, as Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori / Māori Language Commission recommends.

We also use macrons on this website. However, there can be technology limitations for displaying macrons, and we cannot guarantee that they will appear correctly on all browser platforms.
