Our brand
The ITO has changed substantially over the last two years. We are doing things better, and we have a clear sense of purpose. We needed a new image to reflect these changes, embody our values and honour the past.
Our new design is called Te Kaiāwhina Ahumahi. Te Kaiāwhina Ahumahi is a visual representation of our three core values. There are three distinct visual elements in Te Kaiāwhina Ahumahi – Kōtahitanga is the white space between the blue and green. This symbolises the flow of a river and represents movement and connecting people. Manaakitanga is the blue koru. This koru is reaching up and symbolizes the sky and infinity. This represents being open to all possibilities. Kaitiakitanga is the green koru hooking itself into the ground. It represents upholding our responsibilities, growth and hope for others.
If you look at Te Kaiāwhina Ahumahi, you will see that the white space has no beginning and end. This helps to reflect what social services are – the current between the social service workers and the communities they work with.
By helping social service workers increase their skills and gain qualifications, we are helping to create proud communities and people. The more skills our workers have, the more opportunities they have to contribute to the development of whānau, families and individuals in functioning, self-sustaining communities.
