What do I need to know before I start?
The bottom line is that you will need to satisfy NZQA and ITPQ that you meet the industry requirements in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). You will need our support to do this. However, you should start by familiarising yourself with the industry requirements in the AMAP 0222.
The industry requirements in the AMAP are the special requirements of the social services industry and are considered critical areas for NQF accreditation to be granted.
Please refer to the NZQA and ITPQ websites for information about the process for applying for NQF accreditation. You should also familiarise yourself with the social services national qualifications on our website and download the qualifications and unit standards by using the search function on the home page of the NZQA website.
This will enable you to decide on the ‘scope’ of accreditation you wish to apply for (ie whether to apply for the full subfield of social services or certain domains and unit standards, and to what level).
Getting the scope right and understanding the requirements of the AMAP are important, and we strongly recommend you contact us as early as possible in the application process. We have a Self Assessment Workbook that will assist you to identify how well you meet the industry requirements and what you might need to do to address any gaps. We are happy to provide feedback and advice at any time as part of the evaluation process.
