Social Services ITO

What is the ITO's Role in NQF accreditation?

We are committed to raising the standard of education and training in the social services industry. We believe TEOs play an integral part in a sector-wide strategy for workforce development in social services.

Our role is to evaluate your organisation’s capacity and capability to develop and deliver qualifications that include social services unit standards. We do this by evaluating the documents you are going to send to NZQA or ITPQ. We also conduct a site visit where required.

The level of our involvement in your application depends on the scope of accreditation you are applying for. The Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP) 0222 specifies the following:

Level of unit standards for accreditationRequirements
Levels 3 - 4Evaluation of documentation and visit by NZQA and industry
levels 5 - 7Evaluation of documentation and visit by NZQA, industry and teaching professional in the same field from another TEO

Once you are accredited, we are happy to provide advice as you transition to new areas of delivery and assessment.
