What is work based learning?

Work-based learning gives social services staff and volunteers the opportunity to gain a national qualification while continuing to work. We enter into a contract with the employer and the employee (trainee). This training agreement [link to training agreement document] is the legal requirement that enables the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) to subsidise the cost of the assessment. 

The employer is responsible for providing the training and may work with us to arrange additional training for areas that are not covered in the workplace.

We assign an assessor to the trainee so that they can be assessed throughout their programme of study. This assessment takes place at times that suit the trainee and their employer.
